A couple of weeks ago I bought a new bird table from B&Q. It said on the box, "Self Assembly Bird Table." I left it in the corner of the dining room but it completely failed to assemble itself. So, today, I had to lend it a hand.
The instructions were scant and, at one point, just plain wrong. I even had to dismantle and reassemble the pre-assembled components to make them fit together properly. I don't know how anyone unfamiliar with constructing things would have managed to put the thing together and have it look like a bird table that even a sparrow would dare land on!
Sending the poor thing into the world so ill-prepared was cruel. I'm not surprised it couldn't fulfil the promise on its box.
